Brown beer bottles? How cliché, don’t you think? Well, so does Anahiem’s newest addition to the craft beer scene. Tucked away in your typical Industrial Park setting, inside of Legends is anything but typical. The walls are adorned with a beautiful Sierra Nevada Pine Wood that was salvaged from the forest fires, and they are a perfect compliment to the hand made bar that features Legends brandmarks that were literally put there with a branding iron.
I got to spend some time talking with the Owner/Asst. Brewer Jay and he filled me in on all the little details that seem to be setting Legends apart. Take for example their individually hand painted bottles from Ohio that provide 100% UV protection from those harmful sunrays that can wreak havoc on your precious brew. Or again, the awesome interior design that spawned a new look for your local CPK, that’s right, California Pizza Kitchen is copying the Legends look, proving once again that Craft Matters!
While I’m not a huge fan of lagers, I was pleasantly surprised by one of their stand-out beers: Sable Black Lager, that tied with their Wild Child Belgian Wit (with actual banana) for first place and forced me to give their Double Karma DIPA second place along side their Watermelon Wit Belgian Wit. Their Tranquility Imperial Stout is also deceptively easy to drink for it’s over 10% ABV.
All in all, I would say that Legends Craft Brewery is a welcomed addition to Anaheim’s Craft Brewery Family and to the Orange County Craft Brewer’s Guild, which every self-respecting craft beer lover in the OC should be a memeber of…but I digress.
When in Anaheim, near Disneyland and looking for a Craft Beer destination, this is one local brewery I would place on my brewery detour list anyday.
Welcome to the breweryhood!
